FEASIBILITY STUDY ON ECONOMICS, ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND DETAILED DESIGN OF THE 5TH FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE ACROSS MEKONG RIVER (BUENG KARN–PAK XAN) PROJECT



Detailed Narrative Description of Project :

The 5th Friendship Bridge across Mekong River (Bueng Karn-Pak Xan) Project routes start from Muang District, Bueng Karn Province in Thailand and end at Pak Xan District, Bolikhamsai Province in Lao PDR.  The bridge across Mekong and its highway network will connect Highway Route No. 212 towards Nong Khai and Nakorn Phanom Provinces and Highway Route No. 222 towards Sakon Nakhon Province.  The ending point needs to be in compliance with the Highway Development Plan of Lao PDR which intends to construct the bypass at the east of Pak Xan District on Highway Route No. 13.

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided  :

.  Survey and collect data of the existing traffic and analyze the future traffic volumes.

.  Assess the initial environmental impact.

.  Study interchange configurations and make comparison.

.  Design pavement and analyze the settlement.

.  Perform the detailed design of bridge, highway, intersection and traffic changeover, traffic control facilities on both Thailand side and Myanmar side, weigh station and other components.

.  Perform the detailed design of geometry, structure, drainage system, electrical system, utilities and landscape.

.  Survey properties for initial land acquisition.

.  Perform soil testing and material surveying.

.  Arrange public participation activities.

.  Prepare tender documents and estimate construction cost.
