Project Detail

TRACK DOUBLING PROJECT - SI RACHA TO KAENG KHOI ROUTE (SKK)

Due to increased economic activity in the area east of Bangkok, there is a need to increase the SRT’s operational capabilities in that area.  A new line connecting Khlong Sip Kao and Kaeng Khoi Junction has recently been completed, allowing rail traffic between the ESB and Northern and Northeastern sections of the country without entering the congested Bangkok Metropolitan area.

With the advent of increased rail services, especially resulting from anticipated increased container traffic and other new traffics, SRT now foresees a need to increase its track operational capabilities on the route connecting Si Racha - Chachoengsao - Khlong Sip Kao - Kaeng Khoi Junction.

The Track Doubling of the Si Racha to Kaeng Khoi route is one of a large number of projects currently being undertaken or proposed by SRT to extend and modernise Thailand’s railway system.  When completed, this major improvement to the system will increase the capacity of this key by-pass route to cater for the expected increase in freight traffic between the Eastern Seaboard ports and industrial installations, and the Northern regions of the country.
